Time...

As today is my birthday, the big dreaded four o, I reflect on the past 5 years that I have been caring for pets. I think how blessed I am to be able to do something I love and to give something back to the people I work for. I like to think that I give them peace of mind while they are away from their loved pets. That they know that their animals are receiving the best care and love possible.

I truly cherish each pet I care for and love them all. I have grieved at the loss of pets, right along with their owners. I am welcomed with snuggles and wet kisses at each of my stops, I get hugs and love during my visit, how could I not have the best job ever!

The last 5 years have been exciting and at sometimes even non- stop, but I have enjoyed it so much. I look forward to many, many, more years of working with animals.

I have dreams and goals to grow my business, to be able to provide the best service to all my clients. I hope that all of you come along with me.  Thank you for giving me the chance to be able to care for your pets.

Until next time. Enjoy this View of a Dog Walker.

New Year Blog

With the new year, I am going to get back to my blog page, it has been way too long since I posted last. I had a very busy year end, I took a second job working for Gifts for Kids a non profit organization in Greene County. It kept me very busy and of course the pet sitting was in high gear for the holidays. I apologize in the lack of posts but promise to be better. I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season. I don't know about everyone else but I am so ready for warmer weather. I am over these winter blues. All I want to do is hibernate.

With that I have picked up in the pet sitting, adding 2 new clients this month. I so enjoy my job and I always look forward to meeting new clients. Of course I love taking care of the clients I already have.

I have had a few clients last year that lost loved pets. I wish each of them condolences and I will miss each of those wonderful babies.

I look forward to a successful year and growing the business. I want to wish each of you a wonderful year and look forward to seeing all my "kids".

Our Pack-Spencer

I wanted to share another one of my pack with you all. Spencer is a Lab/ Shepherd Mix, we rescued him from the Humane Society. Or I should say he choose my husband while we was at the Humane Society handing out business cards. I have to say though that he is probably the favorite of the pack just because he does not know he is a dog. He was fixed at a very early age and did reach his full size. He is also the smartest of the pack. Easy to train and he figures things out for himself all the time. He also is the calm one and he is very spoiled. He sits in the vehicle like a human and in his recliner like a human. He has human characteristics that come through all the time. He sleeps with us and really does not like for my husband and I to get close, he sleeps between and loves the attention. He even pouts to get his way and pouts when my husband leaves for work. When you eat he can stare at you with the intensity of laser beams. He loves food, all kinds of food. We try not to feed him human food but sometimes we cave. Everyone loves him and wants to cuddle with him, he is the best cuddler.

This is the day we brought him home

 This was this in 2012

                             His 3rd birthday.

So this is just another of our pack and I hope you do not mind me sharing him with you.

Mountain Farm

This is a view from my client that lives in Baileyton. It is a gorgeous view and I often think I can see home from there. I love to take care of the animals here. There are the horses and llamas. The dogs and chickens too. It is a very pretty place and great people to work for. It is very peaceful and I love to sit on the back porch with Buddy and watch the fish swim. Buddy demands my attention while there. But he is so awesome it is easy to fall for him. Even the drive there is scenic and enjoyable.

I hope you enjoy this View of a Dog Walker as much as I do.

Titan's View

This is Titan, he is a 16 month old Great Dane. He is amazing. I love to take care of him when his parents are away. We play and play. He is so loving and very high energy for his giant size. He is very very special to his family and they all love him greatly. I am very happy to be part of Titan's life.  He is an absolute delight to be around. And he has a gorgeous view as seen below.

I hope you enjoy Titan's view and I hope that I can get back on track with the blog and not be so late getting out. It is getting to be very busy with summer coming up but I will try hard to keep at it.

Hope you enjoy this View of a Dog Walker.

One of my Pack

This view comes from my travels to Houston Valley, it is from Garret Hill Road, in Southern Greene County. I am a little partial of this view as it is close to home. I was trying to capture the fall colors but it was so bright they did not show up so well.

This is one of my dogs, Roxy is a Basenji mix that we got from animal control. She is very energetic and active. She is a sight hound from Africa and they use them to flush out prey on hunts. She is an awesome guard dog as she can hear, smell and see extremely well. Sometimes too well. She is fun and loves to play, not a cuddlier though. She is more cat like and the breed is described as having cat like features. They clean themselves like cats and do not have a dog smell. They do not like water at all. I just wanted to share with you one of my pack.

I hope you enjoy this View of a Dog Walker.

Spot Light Breed

First I want to apologize for the delay in the blogs, I am happy to say though that it is due to the fact I have been very busy with work. I usually have a slow start to the year and have some down time but not this year which is good news for the business. So I have been busy and not gotten to the blog.

With that out of the way I would like to share with you a breed that one of my clients has. They are Keeshond. I had never heard of such a breed until I met my client and her dogs. All 10 of them. They are so awesome and a great breed. I have some info about them to share with you.

The Keeshond (pron.: /ˈkz.hɒnd/ kayz-hond; plural: Keeshonden

A medium-sized, sturdy dog, the Keeshond possesses the characteristics of other Northern breeds - a fox-like expression, stand-off coat and richly plumed tail carried over the back. His coloring is a mixture of gray, black and cream, with variations from light to dark and distinctive "spectacles" - markings and shadings in the eye area, including a delicate, dark line slanting from eye to ear and expressive eyebrows. An affectionate, good-natured companion, the Keeshond is outgoing and friendly with people and dogs, following the lead of their owners when welcoming strangers. The breed learns quickly and is energetic, requiring daily exercise.
Basically unchanged over the past two centuries, the Keeshond descended from the same arctic strains as the Samoyed, Chow Chow, Norwegian Elkhound, Finnish Spitz and Pomeranian. The Kees was originally served as a watchdog on riverboats, barges and farms. Especially popular in Holland in the late 1700's, the breed also became a symbol of the Dutch Patriot political party and its leader Kees de Gyselaer, who owned a dog named Kees and gave the breed its name. When the Patriots were defeated, the Keeshond became rare in Holland until it was revived a century later, when it also began appearing in England and America.
Here are some of my clients dogs, they are very energetic and not easy to get pictures of. I love this dogs and love to care for them, they are very entertaining and so happy and when they smile it just makes you feel all warm and happy too.

I hope you enjoyed this view into this incredible breed. I have enjoyed learning so much about them.
