One of my Pack

This view comes from my travels to Houston Valley, it is from Garret Hill Road, in Southern Greene County. I am a little partial of this view as it is close to home. I was trying to capture the fall colors but it was so bright they did not show up so well.

This is one of my dogs, Roxy is a Basenji mix that we got from animal control. She is very energetic and active. She is a sight hound from Africa and they use them to flush out prey on hunts. She is an awesome guard dog as she can hear, smell and see extremely well. Sometimes too well. She is fun and loves to play, not a cuddlier though. She is more cat like and the breed is described as having cat like features. They clean themselves like cats and do not have a dog smell. They do not like water at all. I just wanted to share with you one of my pack.

I hope you enjoy this View of a Dog Walker.

Spot Light Breed

First I want to apologize for the delay in the blogs, I am happy to say though that it is due to the fact I have been very busy with work. I usually have a slow start to the year and have some down time but not this year which is good news for the business. So I have been busy and not gotten to the blog.

With that out of the way I would like to share with you a breed that one of my clients has. They are Keeshond. I had never heard of such a breed until I met my client and her dogs. All 10 of them. They are so awesome and a great breed. I have some info about them to share with you.

The Keeshond (pron.: /ˈkz.hɒnd/ kayz-hond; plural: Keeshonden

A medium-sized, sturdy dog, the Keeshond possesses the characteristics of other Northern breeds - a fox-like expression, stand-off coat and richly plumed tail carried over the back. His coloring is a mixture of gray, black and cream, with variations from light to dark and distinctive "spectacles" - markings and shadings in the eye area, including a delicate, dark line slanting from eye to ear and expressive eyebrows. An affectionate, good-natured companion, the Keeshond is outgoing and friendly with people and dogs, following the lead of their owners when welcoming strangers. The breed learns quickly and is energetic, requiring daily exercise.
Basically unchanged over the past two centuries, the Keeshond descended from the same arctic strains as the Samoyed, Chow Chow, Norwegian Elkhound, Finnish Spitz and Pomeranian. The Kees was originally served as a watchdog on riverboats, barges and farms. Especially popular in Holland in the late 1700's, the breed also became a symbol of the Dutch Patriot political party and its leader Kees de Gyselaer, who owned a dog named Kees and gave the breed its name. When the Patriots were defeated, the Keeshond became rare in Holland until it was revived a century later, when it also began appearing in England and America.
Here are some of my clients dogs, they are very energetic and not easy to get pictures of. I love this dogs and love to care for them, they are very entertaining and so happy and when they smile it just makes you feel all warm and happy too.

I hope you enjoyed this view into this incredible breed. I have enjoyed learning so much about them.

The Port Family

This is a view from the Camp Creek community. This view belongs to the Port Kitties. Rambo, Pepper, and Autumn. I get to care for these sweet kitties when their parents go on vacation. I get to see this view while the kitties eat. The are so good to take care of. Autumn is the Alpha Cat, she rules the house. Pepper is a bit shy and likes to play hid and seek, well at least the hid part of it. Once I find her she likes to get a pat and scratch on the head. Rambo is the newest addition to the family and he is very sweet and loves attention. He likes to play and chase toys. I really enjoy taking care of them. They have loving and caring parents and they are great to work for.

Pet Products

I know it has been a few days since my last entry, I am sorry for that. I have been quite busy for the past week. And time flies when you are having fun. I usually have more of a slow down in the month of January and February but I have been busier than normal which is good for business. I have added several clients in the past year and it has been a great year. I look forward to adding more clients and working for all of my current clients.

I want to share some new products that I have come across while browsing the internet and that other's have shared with me.

FurCodes are pet tags infused with highly sophisticated, yet simple to use technology. Each FurCode tag contains unique Quick Response (QR) bar-code embedded on one side (AKA Heads) and a unique alphanumeric code on the other (AKA Tails). Scan a FurCode with a Smartphone’s QR code reader or enter the tag ID on our Web site and it instantly renders your Pet’s profile page.

Your pet’s profile displays only the information you decide. http://www.furcode.com

With PetHub, you will have peace of mind that your pets will be protected with our QR code pet tags. If your pet goes missing, anyone with a smart phone can scan their tag, view your pet's profile and get in contact with you. http://v3.pethub.com/

I think that both of these products are great ideas along with micro chipping of course these products only work if your pet wears a collar and does not lose it or the tag on it, if they get lost or stolen. Micro Chipping is the way to go for a better chance at recovery. Hopefully someday micro with GPS locator will be more widely available and affordable.

Thanks for letting me share this View of a Dog Walker.

Sheba's Sunrise

This is Sheba's view of a gorgeous  sunrise. Sheba lives in a wonderful neighborhood off the Erin Hwy. She is a beautiful solid white husky. She is an amazing, smart, and wonderful dog. And her owners love her greatly. I am very pleased that the put her in my care. She loves to play and play. She likes to tug and chase balls. And her intelligence astounds me. She likes her routines and loves her peoples. Sheba is new to my clientele but she won me over at first sight. Her mom and dad give her a wonderful home and care for her like a child, as all of my clients do. I feel honored to care for peoples fur kids and I love my job. It is extremely rewarding. So I hope you enjoy this sunrise and this View of a Dog Walker.

A Preachers view.

This view is close to home. From here I can see all of the area I live in and reminds me not to take it for granted. In the spring the mountains are all lush and green and the smell is fresh and sweet. In the fall the vibrant colors or the changing leaves leaves one in awe of mother natures work. I have seen sunrises and sunsets from here and each time it makes me smile. I also look forward to working here and taking care and walking Jackson their German Shepard. The wind can really whip and roar here but the sun always shine on this home. I like to stand in the front drive and watch my surroundings listening to the birds and the other animals that you can hear for miles it seems. I hope you enjoy this View of  a Dog Walker.

The Waddell Kids

I want to share the Waddell kids with you all, these precious puppies have a wonderful set up for when I take care of them. Their parents give them a wonderful loving and caring home. They are so fun to play with and care for.

Nala is the boxer and she is the newest addition she is still a puppy and has an overdrive of energy. She makes it very hard to get a picture of her to send to her mom. But she is so cute and loving when she does settle down and lets you pet her, that she makes up for it.

Jackson is the male German Shepard, and he is so funny when he chases hay, leaves, and well just about anything that he find to chase. He loves his treats too.

Sadie is the female German Shepard and she is the most laid back of the three. She is also a bit camera shy.

I so love taking care of them and look forward to it each and every time I get to. They live in a gorgeous area with awesome shade trees. The doggies have their very own house/shed and its so cute to see them all on the front porch together. I will have to get more pictures of them to share. Just wanted to share some of my work family. I hope that you enjoy this Views of a Dog Walker.
